The 2012 SVRP Aquifer ground-water update and expanded model was commissioned by the City of Spokane, SAJB and the WA Department of Health-Division of Drinking Water. John Porcello, Senior Groundwater Hydrologist at GSI Water Solutions, presented the model at the August 13, 2013 IWAC meeting. The 2012 model is based on the 2007 USGS model but uses Microfem technology which allows for a finer mesh resolution that supports wellfield-scale analysis and wellhead protection planning. It is also a highly effective tool for groundwater source management.
